s.s. Rajamouli Biography:

S.S. Rajamouli is the best film director in the Indian film industry, primarily working on Telugu films. Koduri Srisaila Sri Rajamouli was born in Amareshwara Camp, Raichur District, Karnataka, on October 10, 1973, to Vijayendra Prasad and Raja Nandhini. His parents are from the Andrapradesh district; his father is from Kovur; and his mother is from Vishakaptnam. Rajamouli’s parents are getting an intercaste love marriage; his father, Vijayendra Prasad, is also working as a screenwriter; he is opposed to the caste system. That’s why Vijayendraprasad removed the initial ‘k’ in Rajamoulis‘s name. S.S. Rajamouli completed his intermediate 2nd year in Kovvur; after that, he did not continue his studies because, from his 2nd standard, he liked to tell stories. His grandmother told him about the epics of the Ramayana, Mahabharata, and Bhagavatha. At the same time, his father also introduced him to Amar Chitra Katha comics. He remembered those stories and the films he watched and told them to his friends in his style. His spouse is Rama Rajamouli, who is working as a costume designer for his films. He has two children, s.s. Karthikeya and s.s. Mayookha.

S.S. Rajamouli’s Journey from Story Writer to Director:

S.S. Rajamouli started his cinema career at the Kotagiri Venkateswara Rao as an apprentice, and he worked there for six months. After that, he worked some days at the AVM recording theater in Chennai. Then, he worked at Kranthi Kumar as an assistant director. Next, he was assisted by his father, Vijayendra Prasad, as a story writer. However, his stories did not give him satisfaction with the execution of other directors; his dissatisfaction as a story writer motivated him to become a director.

 

After that, Rajamouli shifted to Hyderabad from Chennai, and he worked with his relative Gunnam Gangaraju. There, he learned about the practical aspects of filmmaking. After that, he joined K. Raghavendra Rao as an assistant director. Under his supervision, he directed some social message-oriented commercials and advertisements for the Telugu Desam Party. After that, he worked as an ETV Telugu serialist for Santhinivasam along with Vara Mullapudi for one and a half years, which was produced by Raghavendra Rao.

S.S. Rajamouli cinema carrier:

Raghavendra Rao offered a directing chance to S.S. Rajamouli for his production house, titled Student NO. 1. It was a romantic action film cast by JR.NTR, Rajiv Kanakala, and Gajala. At that time, Rajiv Kanakala saw director Rajamouli’s dedication and his perfection in filmmaking, and he gave Rajamouli the name Jakkanna. Student No. 1 was the biggest commercial success at that time; it was the first success of NTR. After that, he collaborated with JR. NTR for the film Simhandri in 2003, which was also the biggest hit at the time. The next director Rajamouli’s third film was Sye in 2004; it is completely different compared to Simhadri and Student No. 1. It is based on the sport Rubby; it was cast by Nithin and Genelia; it is also one of the most successful commercial films of 2003; it received four Nandi Awards for that film.

After that, Rajamouli collaborated with Prabhas on the film Chatrapathi in 2005. For this film, M.M. Keeravani composed the music; it was Rajamouli’s fourth hit film. Next, he did Vikramarkudu with Ravi Teja and Anushka Shetty in 2006. It is the breakthrough film for Anushka Shetty. Vikramarkudu was a big success. His next film was Yamadonga, the third time he collaborated with JR.NTR in 2007. Mohan Babu, Priyamani, and Mamata Mohandas also acted in this film. It was a commercial success at the box office. Viswamtra Creations is a production company founded by director Rajamouli. Yamadonga movie was produced under the banner of Viswamitra Creations. Rajamoulis’s next project was Magadheera in 2009. It is an action fantasy film, and Ramcharan and Kajal Agarwal were cast in this film. It was a high-budget movie in 2009. It was one of the commercial successes of Telugu cinema. Rajamouli won the Nandi Award for Best Director and the Film Fare Award for Best Director Telugu, Best Choreography, and Best Special Effects at the 57th National Film Awards, for a total of six Filmfare Awards South and nine Nandi Awards.                                           Following that, in 2010, S.S Rajamouli directed the action comedy film Maryadaramanna, in which Sunil and Saloni starred. It was cast by Prabhas, Rana Daggupati, Anushka Shetty, Ramya Krishna, Satyaraj, and Thamanna. For this film, Rajamouli used an Arri Alexa XT camera. This is Rajamouli’s first film to use a digital camera. It is the second-highest-grossing Indian film. It received so many awards. Next, he did a sequel to Bahubhali-1 called Bahubhali: The Conclusion in 2017. For this film, he received many awards, and it is the highest-grossing Indian film. RRR, Rajamouli’s next film, was released in 2022. It is an epic action drama based on the lives of Indian revolutionaries Alluri Sitaramaraju and Komaram Bheem. For this film, he received a national award, and the prestigious Oscar also won for the best original song category. Rajamouli won two national film awards, three Filmfare awards, entertainer of the Year 2012, and three state Nandi awards. He has been honored with the Padma Shri, India’s 4th highest civilian honor, for his contributions to the field of art.
