The Telugu film industry is also called Tollywood. It belongs to both Telugu-speaking states Andhra-Pradesh and Telangana. The Telugu film industry is the largest film producer in India. Lots of people are working in a cinema. director, producer,  hero, heroine, comedian, choreographer, assistant directors, junior artists, singers, and dancers all work together for a great film outcome. 

The Telugu film industry encourages new talents. it gives a lot of opportunities to really proficient people. Brahamanandam (comedian), s.p Bala Subramanyam (singer), p. Susheela (singer), Rama Naidu (producer), Dasari Narayana Rao (director), Vijaya Nirmala (director) all hold the Guinness world record in their professions.

Olden Telugu movie era:

Raghupathi Venkaiah Naidu produced the first silent Telugu movie Bhishma Prathigna and it was directed by his son Ragupathi Surya Prakash Reddy (R.S Prakash) who is studying filmmaking in the studios of U.S and England, Ragupathi Venkaiah Naidu is the father of Telugu cinema.

Bhakta Prahlada (1932) which launched Surabhi Kamalambi is the first Telugu heroine and it is the first Telugu audible movie it was directed by H.M Reddy after that Sathi Savitri (1933) and directed by c.pullayya, the first film studio was constructed by Nidamurthy brothers in 1936 at Rajahmundry. the first Telugu social film was Prema Vijayam after Gruhalakshmi (1937) it was the biggest turning point in the Telugu film industry. after that many social films were directed like B.N Reddys  Sumangali, Malapilla, and Raithubidda directed by Gudavalli Ramabrahmans.

In Telugu, the first male playback song was recorded for the film Devata(1941), and the first female playback song for Bhaktapothana (1942). Lavakusa is the first Telugu full-length color production film. oka Nari-vanda Thupakulu is the first Telugu full-length black and white cinemascope film in 1971. at the same time, Alluri Sita Rama Raju was the first full-length color and cinemascope film in 1974. Simhasanam is the first Telugu 70 mm production movie in 1987.

90’s movie Telugu film industry era

The legendry director Dasari Narayana Rao directed many blockbuster Telugu films in Tollywood like Premabhishekam, Gorintaku, Meghasandesam, Nannagaru, Bangaru Kutumbam, Kante Kuthurne Kanu, surigadu. Premabhishekam was one of the blockbuster hits and a turning point in his career. k.Raghavendra Rao directed many devotional themes and love theme stories, Sangeetham Sreenivasarao was the first person to introduce science friction in the Telugu film industry with Aditya 369(1991). Ram Gopal Varma’s Siva is the first Telugu film produced after the Telugu industry shifted from Chennai to Hyderabad. Varma was the first person to introduce Steadicam and new techniques in sound recording. Siva’s movie attracted the young generation and movie success encouraged directors to introduce a variety of themes like commercial, experimental, science fiction, family, comedy, devotional, drama, action, etc.

Rajamouli is one of the globally famous directors, he had so many films he is one of the most successful directors in the film industry he hasn’t even faced one single flop in his career. RRR, Bahubali (1,2 Parts), Eega, Maryadaramanna, Magadheera, etc, RRR won the Oscar award for the best original song category to the natu natu song and Bahubali is the highest-grossing Indian Telugu film in the world. Thrivikram, Sukumar, Shekar Kammula, Anil Ravupudi, Puri Jagannath, and Krish Jagarla Mudi are the present famous Telugu directors in the film industry.

A.N.R, Sr.NTR, Krishna, Shoban Babu, S.V Rangarao, Krishnam Raju, Chiranjeevi, Balakrishna, Nagarjuna, Venkatesh, Mohan Babu, Harikrishna, Mahesh Babu, Jr.NTR, Ram Charan, Pawan Kalyan, Allu Arjun, Nani, Prabhas, Rana, and Vijay Devarakonda are Telugu industry actors and actresses who also play the lead roles in Telugu films of the main characters in movies Savitri, Sridevi, Soundarya, Ramya Krishna, Anushka, Kajal Agarwal, Keerthy Suresh, Rashmika Mandanna, Rakul Preeth Singh, Sreeleela, Tamanna, Samantha, Lavanya Tripathi, Pooja Hegde, Rashi Khanna, Mrunal Thakur are some famous actors in Telugu film industry.
