Hanuman Movie Review – Blending Mythology and Contemporary Action

Hanuman, a Telugu-language superhero film set in the fictional village of Anjanadri, tells the story of Hanumanthu (Teja Sajja) and his journey toward becoming Hanuman. The plot revolves around Michael (Vinay Rai), driven by ambition and greed for power, desperately seeking the same supernatural abilities as Hanuman. This battle between good and evil forms the core of the story.

Directed by Prasanth Varma, known for his previous works like Awe and Zombie Reddy, HanuMan is a part of the Prasanth Varma Cinematic Universe. The film expertly intertwines elements of Indian mythology with a contemporary narrative. Drawing inspiration from various sources, director Prasanth skillfully blends CGI with the rural setting of Anjanadri, enhancing the supernatural presence of the protagonist.

Teja Sajja delivers a convincing performance as Hanumanthu, showcasing his transformation from a mischievous thief to the savior of Anjanadri. This role is expected to elevate Teja Sajja to new heights in the industry. Varalaxmi Sarathkumar impresses as Anjamma, Hanumanthu’s elder sister, portraying a character that embodies strength and beauty. Amritha Aiyer’s portrayal of Meenakshi, a doctor, and the love interest of Hanumanthu, brings a sense of balance to the narrative. Vinay Rai excels as the antagonist, representing the stereotypical supervillain role.

Notable mentions go to the supporting cast, including Vennela Kishore, Samuthirakani, Getup Srinu, Satya, and Raj Deepak Shetty, who all bring depth and authenticity to their respective characters. The film’s visual effects (VFX) deserve special praise for enhancing the narrative without overpowering it. Dasaradhi Sivendra’s cinematography and Sai Babu Talari’s editing significantly contribute to the film’s appeal.

The music, composed by Anudeep Dev, Gowra Hari, and Krishna Saurabh, adds to the film’s overall experience. However, the pacing could have been tighter, especially in the first half. A more concise edit and shorter runtime might have improved the viewing experience.

In summary, HanuMan successfully merges elements of mythology with contemporary action, offering a distinct and engaging movie experience. The film delivers solid storytelling, impressive visuals, and strong performances, making it a unique addition to Indian cinema.
